Raw Food Marathon Day Seventy
Doi Suthep Mountain Race 10.25km (6.37 miles)
Today's race was up Thailand's second highest mountain. The race began at the lower temple (near Chiang Mai Zoo) and ended at the Wat Doi Suthep. As usual there was a mad scramble to sprint the first 200m, and then people started dropping like flies. I ran another non SMART(!) race by being pulled along with the crowd and I ended up running my fastest lap split (although to be fair it is the least steep section of the hill).
My heart rate jumped from 172 to the max 178 in the last 45 seconds when I tried to do a sprint finish.
I averaged 9:33 min/miles which is a lot faster than my two previous (training) runs up it (averaged ~10:20).
My average heart rate was 166, so although I could go faster, it was pretty tough. Happy :-)
