Eating Raw in the UK


I've been back in the UK for a couple of weeks now, catching up with friends and family. Encouraging to see massive amounts of fruit at everyone's house (even if bought in especially for me!). Trips to the supermarket have been interesting. Apart from the crazy prices, it bemuses me to see the one a day of your five a day stickers on almost everything and anything. Leaving the odd items aside (mushroons, tinned, carton stuff), why settle for the minimum 5-a-day? Sure for some it may be a great leap forwards in their daily diet, but I wish the five-a-day also had a suffix tag line of, aim for 25-a-day :-)


Updates to my website are very sporadic at the moment. I've been on the road too much.


I managed to fit in a couple of runs in since my last update.


I ran my favourite 7 miler over the South Downs on Tuesday. My fitness levels are comparable to when I left the UK as I used to run this in under 56 minutes. The run felt comfortable, despite the crazy height gain after 1.5 miles!


Yesterday, I turned 40 and despite a mild cold, after a speedy morning run, I celebrated at Terre a Terre in Brighton with my family. I was a little disappointed to only see one salad on the menu, I guess some of that is to do with seasonal availability, but I did expect more choice. I ended up supplementing my meal with some of the semi-cooked choices.

I must seek out the raw food cafe in Brighton before I leave the UK! Cheaper than Terre a Terre I'm sure!

Crowborough Race tomorrow, bananas, greens and dates are in order today!


Raw Food consumed today:


Breakfast - 5 bananas

Lunch - 1 Larabar, 1 Nakd bar, 185g spinach, watercress rocket, 3 large tomatoes, 1/4 cucumber, 2 spring onions

Evening Meal - 8 dates, 5 bananas

Snacks - 1 apple, 1 satsuma


Cooked Food consumed today:

Snacks - 1 cup green tea, 2 cups peppermint tea
