A return to raw food and running
It's
been a long time since I updated my website www.rawrunner.co.uk
I
no longer live in Thailand, and I returned to live in the UK (Sussex) at the end
of 2011.
After
9 months of finding my old habits returning (drinking) and eating too
much cooked food (curries), I have decided today to get back on the
(predominantly) raw food and running path which I began some 8 years ago which
completely turned my life around.
After
peaking somewhere near 94kg in 2003 (and touching a fit low of 66kg in 2005/6),
I am now back to 80kg and feeling it :-(
August
has been a sad yet inspiring month.
My
father-in-law died of cancer on the 20th August.
Rest
Peacefully Don.
On
the 11th of August I met up with Doug Graham and Matt Starling in Thakenham,
Sussex for a strong-man cross-training morning.
Brilliant
fun messing around with strong-man equipment (tractor tires, atlas stones, car
pulling/dragging etc.). I found it tough and the DOMS two days later was
unreal.
Meeting
other people who understand the benefits of raw food was great, and being
'beaten' by Doug Graham, who at 59 years young is incredibly fit, esp. car
pulling/dragging & tractor tyre flipping!
I
met a few local runners who I will hopefully run/race with in the near future
under a raw food team/umbrella.
And
on to today's decision to return to the raw food running path.
Like
many people I have been inspired and amazed by the Olympics.
A few days ago
I saw David Weir win gold in the 5000m wheelchair race.
Richard
Whitehead was just incredible in the 200m.
I've
got to get back into my running!
I've
found a great fruit and veg wholesale market 7 miles from where I
live.
Truly
astonishing prices for crates/trays of ripe fruit & veg and open to the
public too!
